EAR LOBE RE-OPENING / RE-PIERCING / RECLAMATION
A very common procedure we offer at Elemental Body Adornment is earlobe "reclamation" - when the piercings we had didn't work out and we want them back!
Scar tissue is more unstable than unpierced tissue on a molecular level, causing it to be unpredictable. We are very skilled and experienced in navigating the complexities of re-opening or re-piercing previously pierced tissue! Specific tools, jewellery and techniques can offer the best chance of successfully healing and being able to enjoy earlobe piercings for a lifetime.

Re-Opening
Some fistulas (the skin tunnel of scar tissue) can comfortably be reopened, which is the easiest and least disruptive method of reclaiming the piercing. Chances are that the fistula has been filled in with dead skin cells, and that it simply needs to be cleared and re-established!

For this method there is no need to use a needle, we simply use a small blunt taper to gently re-open the fistula. This means less damage to the tissue, pain, and shorter healing time! We install implant grade titanium jewellery (nickel free - great for sensitive bodies) so that we can re-establish the piercing channel and we recommend leaving them in for at least 3 months.

Re-Piercing
There are a few different reasons why it can be more beneficial to do a full re-pierce rather than re-opening the existing fistula.

In the case of uneven piercings:
We choose the placement that is preferred out of the two existing piercings, after we will do a new piercing on the other ear matching the preferred placement.
If the holes have torn over time:
We find typically piercing new holes above and slightly over from the original sites is the best course of action to create an ideal look.

If there is a significant presence of scar tissue around the original sites, in particular from complications due to piercing guns or infections, the anatomy will be assessed and we will provide you our professional opinion on the best course of action to take to make you shiny and happy!

To re-pierce one or both lobes we recommend booking a "Ear Lobe Piercing" Appointment. We will select a pair of implant grade titanium studs (nickel free and sensitive body approved) and take our time in finding the perfect placement.
